Silk surgical suture is a non-absorbable, sterile(non sterile), surgical suture composed of an organic protein called fibroin. This protein is derived from the domesticated species Bombyx Mory (B. Mori) of the family Bombycidae. Suture characteristics include: braided wax (refined paraffin, N.F. or microcrystalline wax N.F.), coated black (hematein dyed) or white (undyed) and twisted uncoated white virgin (undyed), or twisted uncoated white (undyed).

2)Obtained from the cocoon of the Bombyx Mori I silk worm.

3)Tissue reactivity may be moderate

4)Tension is maintained through time though it decreases until tissue encapsulation occurs.

6)Frequently used in tissue confrontation or ties except in urologic procedure.

7)Protein fibre from filaments spun by the silkworm-Bombyx Mori L.

9)Logwood Black CI75290.Natural Tinctorial Wood Extract obtained from Haematoxylon Campechianum. Conforms to US code of Federal Regulations 21 CFR 73.1410.

11)Wax coatings are available from stock in Taunton. Uncoated sutures are made to special order.

12)All reel are marked with a batch number which identifies the date of production, materials used and details of Quality Control tests. Records of ddispatches of each batch are maintained so that recall of individual batches can be effected in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice.

13)Quality system conforms to ISO13485,CE0197,We are audited twice a year to ensure that we continue to meet the highest standards that can be achieved.

14)Certificates of conformity which show the test results obtained by Quality our Control Department are supplied with every batch or lot in a shipment.
